My approach
Above all, I approach each of my clients with compassion and curiosity.
I’m an integrative therapist, using psychodynamic, CBT, and ACT strategies.
I’ve joined the movement to decolonize therapy.
-
Psychodynamic & Time-Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy (TLDP):
By getting a deep understanding of your upbringing and the cultural context you grew up in, I gain clarity about who you are, the experiences that made you are who you are, and your inner child’s hopes and fears. Using TLDP, I consider how early relationships shaped your approach to relationships now.
We’ll work together to help you break old patterns, and to form new ones — whether you’re seeking deeper connections, healthier boundaries, or more effective conflict resolution with others.
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) & Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT):
With CBT, you’ll learn which thoughts and behaviors keep you stuck. Practicing more balanced self-talk and making lifestyle shifts can improve your well-being. But sometimes, fighting our thoughts is counterproductive. Third-wave CBT, such as mindfulness, can help you be more present and less judgmental of the thoughts, feelings, or situations you can’t or don’t need to change.
ACT focuses on the here-and-now and acceptance. It can be more helpful to change your relationship to your thoughts and feelings. ACT also takes an honest look at if your life as is aligns with your core values.

Decolonial & Liberatory Approaches:
Like all psychologists in the U.S., I was trained from a western lens. While I am grateful for what I’ve learned, the field of psychology has too often focused on individualism, symptoms, and limited paths to healing. The needs and experiences of our most marginalized communities have often been missed. As a decolonial psychologist, I join my clients in their sadness, rage, fear, and numbness they often feel from injustice and discrimination. I center your cultural values and connection to your communities. I am thoughtful of what therapy approaches may be helpful for you, and of when to be creative and to think outside the box. Together, I hope to empower you, and I see our work together as steps toward intergenerational healing.
